Rick Thiemke, pastor of Via Church in Mesa, Arizona, shares our Sunday Extra message today. Via Church partnered with Kevin Ford in a visioning process several years ago. Rick is also President of The Missional Training Center of Covenant Theological Seminary. The sermon carries us into the Lenten season, helping us focus on having faith in Jesus as the King of our lives. May the Lord enable you to experience Him afresh during Lent.
Giving God Praise
Let’s pray for Via Church as they work towards a property sale and fundraising drive to renovate their auditorium and worship space.
Today we praise the Lord for a modern-day miracle. Two years ago, our dear friend and staff member Rich Hurst received a cancer diagnosis. After a dim prognosis, he received a transplant two years ago this past week. Rich wrote, “Two years ago, I could not get up off the couch by myself or roll over in bed. Yesterday to celebrate, my friend Jeff patiently went with me as I hiked up Snow King in Jackson Hole. So off Jeff and I set to do that yesterday in honor of my two-year transplant birthday. It took me twice the time it used to, but I did it. We toasted last night the success of that milestone; each of you is a big part.” Rich serves as LFM’s Executive Director of Ministry Teams.
“Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him” (Psalm 28:6-7 NIV).
