Sunday Extra: No Regrets

Clint Tolbert encourages us to have an "urgency to share the goods of the kingdom of God."

Have you ever heard a sermon on the Rich Man and Lazarus?

Our friend Clint Tolbert, senior pastor of the historic First Presbyterian Maumee (near Toledo) just preached on this less-familiar parable last week as part of his Lenten series.  The Holy Spirit has orchestrated us sharing it today on Sunday Extra!

Earlier this week, as Leighton Ford shared his reflection on Luis Palau, he included a frequent quote from his wife, Jeanie:  “Don’t forget the evangelists!”

Sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ is central to the mission of the church and our personal mission as followers of Christ.  Please join me this week as Clint Tolbert encourages us to “develop an urgency to share the goods of the kingdom of God with others” so that we live and die with no regrets!

MINISTRY UPDATE: SMALL CHURCH, BIG IMPACT

First Presbyterian Maumee was charted in 1820 on land that had been occupied by the British during the War of 1812.  Building upon this amazing foundation, the church acknowledges that their real work is in the changing of people’s lives in Christ.

I’ve had the privilege of journeying with Senior Pastor Clint Tolbert and the First Pres Maumee leadership team since 2013, when Leighton Ford Ministries helped launch an effort to clarify their vision for a fresh season of ministry.  Starting in 2017, we took the next step by focusing on member engagement.

The result is a vibrant, missional church whose motto is “Love First” … and the community has noticed!  Just before the pandemic, the Maumee Chamber of Commerce presented First Presbyterian with the “River Business Award” in recognition of their “exceptional generosity and civic responsibility.”

To God be the glory!

Clint Tolbert is also a member of LFM’s mentoring community for younger, missional, Presbyterian pastors, which I co-lead with David Swanson.

I’m actually working with First Pres Maumee this weekend as part of a follow-up visit.  Thank you for supporting Leighton Ford Ministries in our work of Healthy Leaders and Thriving Ministries!
