Sunday Extra – October 30th, 2022
Mark Toone, pastor of Chapel Hill Church in Gig Harbor, Washington, shares today’s Sunday Extra message. In past years, Kevin Ford has partnered with Chapel Hill Church for leadership development and coaching, particularly on issues of strategy and governance. Mark and our own Jim Singleton have been great friends for thirty years. Today he speaks on temptation, helping everyone facing various trials in what he calls “the splitter.”
Mark asks us to pray with him for unity in his church as they, like churches across the world, try to reconnect their people following the pandemic.
Tomorrow marks the 505 th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, when Martin Luther posted his Ninety-five Theses on the door of the Castle Church, Wittenberg, Germany, on October 31, 1517, the eve of All Saints’ Day. Marks of the Reformation included the authority of Scripture (sola scriptura) and that justification came by faith (sola fide), not works.
As believers, we rejoice in our salvation, remembering that “the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace” (Romans 4:16 NIV). Today, let’s thank God for the marvelous grace of our loving Lord – and let’s pray for other people we know who don’t yet know Christ. May God open their eyes to believe on Him, repent of their sins, and receive Him into their lives.
